- The Festival des Forêts with your family in Compiègne - 21st June –13th July 2024
The forest festival takes place in the forests of Compiègne and Laigue in Northern France, just off the A1 less than three hours from the Channel port of Calais and 80km north of Paris – ideal for those who visit France by car.
These forest concerts – which involve around 200 musicians, 70 composers and several orchestras – are a great way for families to spend time together in wild nature and enjoy great spaces and fresh air rich in oxygen while taking in classical music performed on instruments including harps and violins.
If you’re looking for things to do in France for kids, the Festival des Forêts is a fantastic event allowing you to discover French heritage (the 14 sites include fairytale châteaux and ruined abbeys) while experiencing new rhythms, melodies and chants, sometimes accompanied by dance, cinematic effects or even fireworks. Special kids’ concerts and workshops for children aged four years and up engage young audiences, and there are picnics and buffets to keep everyone well fed.
If you want to make time for family activities together, enjoy a family Cycle Route in the forest of Compiègne, taking you along the traffic-free routes of this former royal hunting site. Amidst the trees, discover a high-ropes adventure course and the historic site of the Clairière de l’Armistice, where the WWI peace agreement was made and also visit to Camelot.
Children under 12 years of age enjoy free entry to the forest festival in Compiegne.
