- French Christmas market in Saint Quentin - 30th November - 29th December 2024
Between Calais and Reims, Saint-Quentin is on the threshold of champagne-producing country and a great place to stock up on the world’s finest fizz for your Christmas celebrations.
Saint-Quentin Christmas market
Other festive and regional treats available at its 50-stall Christmas market include gingerbread, foie gras, Quentins (dark or milk chocolate with almonds and hazelnuts), cugnots (traditional brioche) and tartes maroilles (tarts made with a strong regional cheese).
Styled as a mountain village, complete with snow-clad fir trees, the market takes place on the city’s main Place de l’Hôtel de Ville with its fascinating architectural mix, including the Flamboyant-Gothic Town Hall, the 19th-century theatre, and elements of both Art Deco and Art Nouveau. As well as selling tasty treats, it’s a treasure trove of gifts and crafts including hand-made decorations, hand-painted santons (nativity scene figurines from Provence) and jewellery.
Meanwhile, you can also dive into Santa’s grotto, check out the pets’ corner, get active on the ice slide, and luge and ice-tubing tracks, and then warm back up in the old-time tavern with its mulled wine, hot chocolate and soupe au caillou (soup simmered with a pebble!).
