- The gardens of painter Henri le Sidaner
Having painted far and wide – in places including Brittany, Venice, Bruges and Lake Maggiore – the post-Impressionist Henri le Sidaner settled in one of France’s loveliest villages.
Gerberoy was already known for its roses; Le Sidaner increased its attraction for garden-lovers by creating and embellishing this romantic site over 40 years. His travels, especially in Italy, inspired the terrace layout as well as the addition of statuary, pavilions, arches, weathervanes and even a temple of love modelled on the one at the Petit Trianon in Versailles.
Lovingly maintained by his descendants, the gardens can be visited from late April to late September, except Mondays.
